WE ARE THE PROUD GROWERS OF A COLLECTION OF RARE VARIETIES, UNIQUELY ENCOMPASSING MONEMVASIA’S TERROIR IN OUR 30 HECTARES OF ORGANIC VINEYARDS
KYDONITSA
Rare local variety, ripening in early to mid-September. Grape vine of low to medium vividness, demanding special care in its cultivation, but boasting significant potential in the wine world, which has been brought back to light thanks to our efforts. The flagship of Laconian terroir.
MONEMVASIA
Local, rare variety ripening in the end of August-early September. A fine grape vine, of medium vividness, which brings out all its typical characteristics in its natural environment.
ASPROUDI
Early ripening local variety, ripening in early to mid-August. Large grape vine, of high vividness. Through the study we launched, in cooperation with the Hellenic Agricultural Organization “Demetra” and the Agricultural University of Athens, we found that Asproudi contains a group of unexplored varieties with great winemaking potential.
ASSYRTIKO
Favored in our territory, a variety which ripens in early to mid-August. Resilient grape variety, of medium vividness, giving off excellent results in the extreme desertlike conditions of the Laconian summer and proving the strong ties of Assyrtiko with the area of Monemvasia.
AGIORGITIKO
Elegant red variety which ripens in our area in mid-September. Moderately vivid vine that, by following the suitable/proper viticultural practices in our region’s hot and dry climate, produces wines of high phenolic content.
MAVROUDI
Local red variety ripening in mid-September. It bears a morphological resemblance to Agiorgitiko but produces smaller grapes, which have a very dark -almost black-color at the time of full ripening, from which their name [mavro=black] is derived.
LIMNIONA
Red variety, favored in our area, which ripens late, in the end of September. Vivid vine with relatively large grapes and highly resilient to our region’s dry and hot climate. It has adjusted beautifully and gives off remarkably interesting wines with elegant tannins.
